Tim Halfhead has posted a statement on babyworld general chat offering an apology and retracting the whole thing, they are still changing it slightly in line with what members wanted. Have a read

Re: BABYWORLD RETRACTION
It took them long enough but I'm glad they had the sense to listen to their members. That sounds a much better idea but I'm sure after a 3 month trial most members wouldn't mind a "small" membership fee to help with the cost of running the site "if" it was needed.
I just can't believe that they have access to so many women but didn't think to use us or ask our opinions, it's crazy!

could have been better me thinks!!!
TBH I think its an improvemtn on the original plan but i would still want to know why they need ANY money at all considering the amount of advertising they have filling the sites pages up????? This increased dramatically over the last 6 mths so why the need to charge for the site from its members .
I predict the downfall of babyworld in the future due to this as lot of people will either not join in the begining or just use the original ant groups and forrums and seek out groups like this or facebook to network!!!!

Re: BABYWORLD RETRACTION
You know what.... I used to work in advertising, 3 years ago so I am guessing the prices have increased since then and we charged £400 a month for a 'button' that was a 2"x2" hyperlink like the one they have in the top left hand corner of their web page....... now that alone would earn them £4,800.00 pa but I am guessing an increase of about 10% in the past 3 years surely so say £5,000ish little less than 10% increase..... they then have banners on there too and so on it's a LOT of money to be raking in

At least they listened in the end, better late then never i guess. Still don't know why they felt the need to change it all any way.
If they need the income why not ask our advice about how much we'd be willing to pay for the "classes". Still think they have lost a fair few ppl over all this tho.
